The nurse glares at me as I light up in the hallway 
outside Teena's room.

Well, she'll soon have her mind on something else.  
Any second now she'll look at her monitors and 
notice the change in Mrs. Mulder's status.  

It amuses me that anyone seriously thinks I'll 
smoke outdoors.  But I'm not stupid enough to 
strike a match in a room full of pure oxygen.

Not when Teena's inside.  

I don't care that she's in that bed because of me.  
Really.

I won't be here when the doctors start asking 
questions.

But I don't want to go just yet.
